Today many museums are engaged in on-going programmes of reinstallation and refurbishment, in addition to major construction programmes.
Such programmes give museums the chance to take a completely fresh and integrated look at their visitor interpretation. Fundamental to this is the need to improve the supply and take-up of the information available, thereby enhancing levels of visitor satisfaction and expanding people’s awareness of the importance of museums in preserving and maintaining our cultural heritage.
Most museum websites present artworks or installations as single flat images with captions. However, within galleries such works are rarely seen in isolation, but always in juxtaposition with other objects and artworks, set within a carefully planned space.
Our approach aims to reproduce this sensation and give the visitor the opportunity to move around the museum at will, selecting the type of information and level of content they wish to receive.
